Updating great room kitchen-living-dining room combo to all neutrals

I started by adding two Ikea dinning chairs to the ends of our already exciting Eyhan Allen dinning room set ! We needed two more chairs because we have a large family and the compliment our white couch and white kitchen cabinets perfectly! What a deal! Similar ones sell at pottery barn for much more money !

Next we finally but in a window behind our dining room table! We have lived in this house almost 7 years and it has been on our to-do list!

We bought white curtains for both sides of the window and both sides of the sliding door. From Ikea for around $30 a pair! That's 2 panels for $30!!! Unbelievable price ! We spent almost  $300 on pottery barn curtains behind out couch! Yikes! Never again!!!

Next I swapped out the yellow rug, pillows and accessories for all neutral beige , whites and taupes. Pillows from Serena and Lily ( a little on the pricy side but sooooo worth it!) and the smaller cream and white from pottery barn and etsy respectively.
My father is helping refinish a beautiful piece of furniture in white for under our mirror! We had been using an old desk from target for the time wing but it always bothered me! I can't wait to see it finished!
Here is a picture of the desk/table we have now
Here is a before picture of the beautiful buffet my father is helping me refinish in white ! Can't wait !
Finally I just purchased a beautiful chunky loop jute rug in bleach from rugs usa! They are having a 60% off sale! Use code Sum60! I'm so excited can't wait to see it!!!
Finally my to-do list will conclude with some bookshelfs  , lamps and accessories but that may happen a little later! Stay tuned for a room reveal coming soon!!!

Shades of Green

I am loving the green in my living room for the winter .... however the room feels very unfinished to me! I would love to add two tall white bookcases on either side of the window, some tall beautiful lamps and a large beige area rug! More on those additions in a future post!  I also think I could go a step further with my green color scheme! I always loved the green living room by Sarah Richardson                 ( second picture below)! It looks sophisticated and colorful yet still almost a neutral at the same time! Traditional yet not boring! I think I could easily incorporate some of her color scheme into my decor!
The variety of green in the couch pillows are so beautiful!  I tried to visualiZe what similar ones would look like on my couch with the collage below!

Here is another collage of the color scheme . The main colors are white for the couch , beige for the drapes, and brown of the floors and two side chairs. The shades of greens are the new accent colors. The olive green is already in the room!

I found this beautiful Ikat pillow on etsy that could easily tie many different green shades together!
Here are some different pillow options!
Finally because of my chocolate brown chairs I may add a chocolate brown pillow to toe them into the color scheme!

Green and White Winter Decor!

After Christmas I leave the green accents out and have a white and green theme for winter! I swap the yellow pictures over my dining room table for snowy wintry ones!  Just a few green accents go a long way ! As much as I like the green ... I am eager to get my cheery yellow back and sunny spring weather!!!! See my YELLOW SPRING DECOR here!

The view outside our house today!! I guess I will enjoy this winter view for a few more weeks!

Beautiful snowy day!!!

Orchid is 2014 Color of the year!

Orchid is 2014 color of the year! I guess it's fitting I covered my baby girls nursery in a monochromatic theme of orchid, and pale pink!  I also loved the pop of Orchid against my yellow rug last spring! See below for other room inspirations that use the color Orchid !

Other than a little Girl's room or teenage girls bedroom ...I prefer the color Orchid as a accent color ! Here are a few of my favorite rooms that incorporate
The color in a subtle and sophisticated way!
