Best Dad!

I have said it before but I'll say it again .... I have the greatest Parents! My mom dad and sister came to visit this weekend and while visiting my father helped put up some curtains and mirrors!

I finally started getting our living room together. It's the room to the left when you walk in the front door (first impression room) so it feels great to see it coming together! The curtains fit perfectly! They are the best home decor bargin around! They are 98 inch panels  (two panels per package) for only $30 at IKEA! They are even nicer than similar ones In have from Pottery barn that are only 96" and around $100 per panel! At ikea you get 2 panels for $30!!! Can't beat that price!!!! The mirror was a second wedding anniversary from my dad! We went antique shopping together and I was so excited to find this with my Dad! The memory of finding it together holds so much sentimental memory! We originally had the room layed out differently but I did some rearranging today.  Here is the original arrangement
The couch was originally to the right and chest and mirror staight ahead. Here is the new arrangement .
The couch straight ahead and the chest to the right.
I love the new rearrangent but now the mirror is a little too high. Nothing we can't fix!!

The white hutch also holds special memory! That was our 6th anniversary present also from my Dad! We bought it at a tag sale and he refinishe it! You can read about that project here!
So there are many special memories of my Dad in this room and now I can add memories of him putting up these curtains and mirrors in our new house while he was visiting (and technically on vacation!)

With a few minor adjustments and a few extra design details this room is almost finished! It needs something special or a pop of color which I'm still contemplating..... I'm on the hunt! But I'm so happy with the way the curtains turned out! And the new layout! Thanks to my super dad!!!

Some Christmas Details

This year our Christmas colors are mainly silver and gold with hints of green! It's very simple , yet sparkly at the same time! Here is a sneak peak of some of the details I have been working on.  More pictures to come!

Little by little it's coming together!

Milk glass and sparkly bulbs... Two of my favorite things!

I love my milk glass collection, especially because my parents found every piece for me at yard sales and antique shops! Each one holds a special memory ! I also love sparkly Christmas decor and bulbs! Together they make me happy! ;)

The white box to the left also has significant value to me! My 94 year old grandfather made that flower box for me with his own two hands , nails and saw right before he passed away. I keep it and the two others he made for me on my deck in the summer and now in the winter they will be front and center in my holiday decor , brining a little piece of my "Poppas" to our Christmas even if we can't be with him physically!  Miss him terribly! Especially this time of year and it being the first Christmas without him!

Hope everyone is enjoying decorating for this special time of year! We are having a blast decorating our new home! My son is so excited he is calling it "The Christmas House"!

It's starting to look a lot like Christmas!

We are Decking the halls around here.... We'll me and my two little helpers while my husband is away on business! He will come home to a winter wonderland ! ;) My almost 4 year old son is so excited to see our new house filled with Christmas decorations! He keeps calling it the Christmas house! Last weekend we all went as a family to the tree farm to pick out our Christmas tree! My mother in law was visiting for Thanksgiving so she came along ... It was a fun family adventure! Here are the few decorations we have up so far ! I will post more soon!

I ran out of lights! Back to homedepot tomorrow for more!!!!!

I would love to move the TV off the mantel and put a pretty mirror up but sometimes you have to let your husband win a battle or two! But I'm still working on winning this one!

Yesterday was 74 degrees and SUNY on December 1st! How Amazing! This new englander can really get use to this weather! My daughter and I went shopping for Christmas decorations with no coats !

Can't wait to blog hop and see everyone else's holiday decor! Leave your site below I would love to see your too!

Happy Thanksgiving Morning!

We are all ready and so excited! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I had so much fun decorating the table this year! I used real pumpkins, spray painted them a glittery gold and added flowers to the biggest one as a centerpiece!
The centerpiece was super easy to make!

I cut the opening at the Roland took out the insides of the pumpkin! Next I  spray painted the pumpkin. When it was dry I placed a small bowl of water in the center of the pumpkin and gel it in place by using paper towels all around it or support. Next I made a grid with bamboo sticks, to hold the flowers nearly in place. Finally I arranged the flowers with tallest and wisest flowers in the center and then worked my way out to the sides! So simple!

I also made a fun breakfast table for my kids to eat their muffins, watch the parade, color and write what they are thankful for! I found this fun tablecloth at Target! My son was so surprised ! Ed having fun with it as I finish writing this post! ;)

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours! We certainly have so much to be thankful for! Especially these two little ones! It's amazing to think that my daughter wasn't even born yet last thanksgiving!!!! What a blessed year we have had! Looking forward to many more!!!
