7 year awaited rug is on its way to be delivered to my house!

I have been in search of the perfect dining room rug forever! Seven years to be exact! We moved in to our home in 2007 and bought the dining furniture we have now from Ethan Allen. (With the exception of the white chairs on the end, which are from ikea)

Finding a rug large enough to fit under our huge table that did not cost $1,000 or more and that would hold up to family pasta dinners was a challenge! But after all of this time , I am confident with my recent purchase! Having a messy three year old and 6 month old , we needed a durable and easy to clean rug! But as many of you know or can guess from my pictures I Love white decor ( a dilemma for sure) ! The rug would also have to match the  white, beige, taupe, and brown decor of the dining room and kitchen since they all are part of one great room!
The rug is from dash and albert and although it has ivory
as a main color it is an indoor outdoor rug that is bleachable and a scrubable !!! Perfect for our messy family! More about this company soon! I think the rug will be a perfect match and a long awaited addition to our dining area !!! I can't wait to see it all come together!

Delay peony blooming for four weeks ! Here's how !

How do I have this peony four weeks after my peony bush bloomed?? Keep reading for a step by step tutorial!

As many of you know ...I adore peonies! Who doesn't? And what makes them extra special for me is that they were our wedding flower. We have a few peony bushes and luckily they bloom the week of our wedding anniversary! The only draw back to them is the bloom only lasts one week ... And then it's back to waiting for an entire year for them again! This season I fell across a few articles regarding delaying their bloom using refrigeration techniques that florists use. I thought I would give it a try. I didn't want to waste any of the stems if it didn't work so I put one small stem in my fridge. It worked! Next year I will surely save more stems so I can have peonies arrangements all summer, and possibly even plan to have them bloom when we have guests ! Here is a step by step of the very easy process!

Step 1: choose stems with a bud that is almost ready to bloom but still closed. Make sure the buds are not closed too tight or too loose.( A good tip is to look for some that have a marshmallow consistently when you touch it! )

Step 2: cut the stems mid morning and make sure the stems are dry! I would wait if it rained the night before or there is any condensation or morning dew! The stems need to be dry to prevent mold from growing and harming the stem while refrigerated. Cut the stems 8-15 inches down.

Step 3: Next, wrap your stems up to 3 together in a plastic bag. ( I used a small zip lock bag to cover the bud . Next year I will buy the extra large zip lock bags to cover th entire stem). You can also use plastic newspaper bags and an elastic band.  Place your dry, wrapped stem in the back of your refrigerator where it is the coldest . Make sure it is in a place where they won't get squished, damaged, or wet! Ideally the temperature should be 32 degrees Fahrenheit. However, most household refrigerators are 36-40 degrees. (If you have a setting on your fridge you can turn it lower. If not this process should still work as long as the temp does not exceed 40 degrees.)

Step4: Now you wait! You can take your peonies out any time in the next four weeks or so. ( possibly 6 weeks). Remove them 24 to 36 hours before you would like them to bloom! Perfect way to time for guests or a summer party!
Simply remove the peonies from the fridge and cut the bottom of the stem slightly (the freshly cut stem will help them drink water easier! ) Then place in cool, fresh water. They should bloom in 24 to 36 hours!

*One final tip! ( go into your yard and cut green peony foliage from your peony bush! The peony flower may bloom and look fresh but the leaves may look bridle and dried out! You can camofoldge this by adding the green fresh foliage!

Good luck! Can't wait to have peonies all throughout the summer next year!!! Will you try this trick?

6 Months in a flash!!

How could my sweet baby girl be six months already ! Seems like just yesterday we were getting her nursery ready!
I love to rock her to sleep, get her dressed and change her diaper in her nursery........ but the truth is ..... she has yet to sleep one night in there! She still sleeps beside our bed (and sometimes in it) and I'm in no rush to make the transition to her big girl crib! Even my husband says jokingly that she can stay with us until college ! Luckily I designed her room to grow with her, so hopefully she will still have years to enjoy it ... even with a late start ! For now it will be a beautiful changing room! She has blessed us in so many ways! Her sweet personality, calm demeanor, patience and infectious smile makes her just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside!!!! We love her to pieces!!!! Happy six months to our princess!!!!

Refinished buffet ! I have the greatest dad!

My father bought this buffet for us as an anniversary gift at a tag sale for $25 ! We are celebrating 6 years !
He refinished it and painted it white! The before and after pictures are quite dramatic! My fresh picked peonies add an extra special finishing touch ! (Picked from our yard this morning )

I am so blessed to have the greatest Dad! What is even extra special is that he bought the mirror above it for us on our second wedding anniversary! I will cherish both pieces forever because he gave them to me !!!! What do you think?

Celebrating 6 happy years of marriage!

This morning I gave my husband matching coffe mugs as a small anniversary gift. We sipped our coffe and watched our kids laugh and play! My three year old son made a fort with our couch cushions and made the baby laugh! My husband made heart shaped pancakes and we all sat together to watch our wedding video ... Start to finish! I then picked the peonies from our yard ! They were our wedding flower and smell just like our wedding day ! They bloom on our anniversary every year ! How lucky is that!?!?!?! Tonight we will be going out to dinner for the first time in almost 6 months since the baby was born! Can't wait to have adult conversation and reminisce about all we have experienced together these past ten years together and six married! I couldn't have picked a better person to spend this life by my side ! Feeling very blessed and grateful today!

New jute rug from RUGS USA

It's here! The new chunky loop jute rug color bleach from RugsUSA! It's beautiful, soft, thick and feels great to walk on ! It doesn't smell like some jute rugs! It brings such texture into the room and a causal feel to a space that was starting to feel way to formal!
It also compliments the counter stools well which are also made of natural material. The counter stools are from target . They are mess proof especially... three-year-old mess proof! Perfect for our family dinners ! ( we eat a lot of pasta)!!!!
Now back to the rug...I placed the order on Saturday afternoon and by Monday morning the rug shipped and it was on my doorstep by Tuesday!! Very fast shipping and the shipping was free! That's a big deal for rugs where shipping can cost $50 or more! What a great company! My kids love playing on it already too!
There is a 60% off summer sale going on now with code SUM60 so the 6x9 is only $117.00 no tax , no shipping charge! The 8x10 is only $170.00 which is unheard of for a thick well made jute rug! A comparable one from potterybarn (which is not as nice) is also on sale right now for $381.00 (originally $449.00)not including sales tax and shipping! It doesn't look as thick and the color is not as nice! It's so hard to find a nice bleached color jute rug! I feel like I won the rug lottery with mine!!!!! Lol

My only complaint is that I love it so much I wish I bought a larger size ! I'm considering exchanging it for a size larger !
