Wallpaper in the bedroom

Wallpaper is no longer for grandma's house!  Wallpaper can help bring a room design together and add a huge visual impact ! It can be used as a starting point in the design process, helping to bring all other colors and textiles of a room together. The easiest place to experiment with wallpaper in my option is an accent wall behind a headboard. It's the perfect place to add visual interest and highlight the bed which should be the main focal point in a bedroom!

Large scale florals are one of my favorite wallpaper prints for a bedroom! But I would suggest not adding any other floral prints or textiles (or be very selective of you do.)  Plain crisp bed linens are a good choice. If you choose to add additional floral make sure they are a similar color scheme but a different scale. If your wallpaper has large scale floral use a small scale floral fabric to coordinate. Since this can be tricky I would suggest staying away from dueling florals and choosing other prints instead also being conscious of mixing scale and texture. When in doubt going simple with your bedding like the following three photos below is always a good idea.

Patterned wallpaper is also a good choice if floral is too feminine for your taste ( or your husbands) . Us wives  have to remember it is your husbands room too! ;)

Grass cloth is also a beautiful option! It adds texture and interest without becoming too busy! I have heard it said that the best design goes unnoticed. Grass cloth can take your design to the next level without overpowering the room.

Demask patterns instantly give your room a more traditional and formal feel. In the room below the wallpaper becomes the star feature of the room !

And don't forget the kids bedrooms! Wallpaper can add color and playfulness in a kids space and help to bring different colors together! Here are two of my favorite children's bedrooms with wallpaper!

I adore the serena and lily navy wallpaper above in the boys room! They recently came out with a new line of wallpapers! Have you seem them? They are fabulous!
I would love to add this serena and lily wallpaper to the wall behind our bed !  What do you think ? Too busy? Perfect? Should I do it?
Thanks for stoping by! ;) We our busy tonight bringing  my son to his pre school open house and his first soccer practice ! Yikes! He's growing too fast ! Hope you have a good night too !

Kelly, You would need to change out your comforter/duvet cover because the patterns may compete. Not sure if you wish to do that. You bedroom is already so serene. Perhaps wallpaper a wall in the bathroom? Or a hallway?
